Our entry-level 101 classes consist of very small class sizes and are tailored for new climbers to get the most out of each class while meeting other climbers along the way.

For intermediate to experienced climbers, we offer private coaching clinics to help you achieve your individualized goals.

Climbing classes are held regularly throughout the month and are designed to help all climbers develop essential climbing technique.

These foundation-building classes help climbers establish the basic-to-intermediate level skills required to break into climbing.

Bouldering 101

Beginner

Wondering where to start? This entry-level class is designed to introduce new climbers to the basic elements of bouldering indoors.

The 1-hour course includes understanding the mechanics of proper falling techniques, risk management, bouldering etiquette, the V-scale grading system, and fundamental climbing techniques.

This class helps participants feel more aware and comfortable navigating gym and understanding the inherent risks of bouldering.

Technique 101

Beginner-Intermediate

Technique 101 is 1.5 hour entry-level course designed to orient new climbers to movement techniques that advance past the scope of Bouldering 101.

This course includes understanding how to approach inherently difficult climbing terrain, an introduction to intermediate climbing techniques, a review of hand hold types and orientations, and a few exercises on route sequencing. The goal of this course is to help each participant build upon the fundamental climbing skills introduced in Bouldering 101 and to provide each climber various tools to add to their toolbelt while providing feedback and advice.

$20 for Members.

$35 for Non-members.  

*13 and up (participants ages 9-12 permitted with an adult 18+ supervising or taking the course with child). Purchase price includes rental shoes for both members and non-members.
*Equipment: Climbing shoes are included. Please wear comfortable clothing that will not restrict your movement.

Explore Climbing Clinics

Climbing clinics are held one per month and are designed to help climbers of all skills focus on their own individualized growth potential. These skills-oriented clinic helps climbers build the strength, mechanics and dexterity required to break through climbing plateaus.

Tension Board Clinic

In this 1-hour intermediate-level clinic you will learn all the basics when it comes to the T2 including, navigating the T2 app, changing the gradient of the wall, sharing the space, and how to utilize the board to best suit your climbing goals.

Dyno Technique Clinic

“Dyno” is climber lingo for dynamic movement, typically referring to more advanced movements where a climber must use complex movement to throw themself or jump on a route to make progress. 

Dyno Technique Clinic is a 1-hour session designed to tackle the techniques that build into confidently and consistently nailing dynos on your favorite climbs.

Training 101 Clinic

Training 101 is an intermediate-level clinic providing participants with the foundational climbing systems and exercises to find progress and break through plateaus.

This 1-hour course gives participants an understanding of their individual climbing style, training philosophy, how to utilize in-gym climbing systems, and drills aimed at improvement.

Climbing and fitness coaching at Iron City Boulders

Gym-to-Crag

The Gym to Crag Free Member’s Clinic is an intermediate-level, 1-hour session designed to orient climbers to the preparation and logistics of planning and conducting a bouldering trip outdoors.

Climbers can expect to learn more about spotting climbers, using crash pads, navigating guidebooks or other resources, choosing locations and routes, and much more!

Fitness Orientation Clinic

New to the fitness area and looking to get started? Fitness 101 orients beginner- to intermediate-level participants to the basics of our fitness area.

This 1-hour course includes basics of fitness types and guidelines, common gym- etiquette, and an introduction to resistance training protocols. 

Our goal is to help your feel more comfortable navigating our fitness space.
