Summer Bouldering League FAQ

How do i sign up?
Sign-ups are done online through the Iron City Boulders home page tab, and on the Kaya phone app. The website is used to collect payment and Kaya is used to register you and your team.
What is the difference in pricing if I’m a member/non-member?
Iron City members will be charged $40, while non-members will be charged $55. Non-members will still need to purchase a day pass in order to climb.
How do the teams work?
Teams will consist of 3 members with more than one gender representation. Teams will be scored and ranked weekly against the other teams in their respective divisions. Teams will be assigned to either the recreation or competitive league based on their average max climbing grade. (Teams with an average grade above V5 will be assigned to the COMP League).
Will there be any prizes awarded for the league?
Top teams and individual competitors from both the Recreational League and Competitive League will be recognized weekly, the top 3 teams at the end of the season will be eligible to enter a Championship Competition (July 29th) to compete for final prizes.
What if I don’t have teammates/a full team?
Any individual sign-ups will be assigned to incomplete teams when sign-ups close on June 1st. Teams do not need to be fully completed to sign up through Kaya.
How will the scoring work?
Each boulder will be 100x the V grade (V1 = 100 points, V2 = 200…). Each team member’s top three boulders of the week will be added together for the member’s score. Each member’s score on the team will be added together for the team score. TEAMS CAN COLLECT SCORES ON KAYA ALL WEEK, not just on team nights.
Do the number of attempts matter?
Each attempt will be a one-point reduction from the boulder score, up to a maximum of 25 points. After the 25th attempt, points will no longer be deducted from that boulder’s score.
What are the technique clinics and group workouts?
Technique clinics and group workouts will be offered bi-weekly for boulder league teams. Each other week will be a new topic which can be seen on the schedule before signing up. Clinics will cost an additional $15 per member or $30 for the entire team per session. A maximum of 12 people can sign up for each clinic. If a clinic is full, teams can reach out, via private coaching inquiry to potentially schedule another time.
